while firm, it looked detached from the rest
of the grave. The stone that is placed on top
would be from another memorial)

Constance Jahans 1853-1923

IN LOVING MEMORY
               OF
OUR DARLING MOTHER
CONSTANCE JAHANS
BORN 20TH DECEMBER 1853
DIED 16TH AUGUST 1923

Another grave that had all but disappeared.
On exposing the surname I remembered there
was a Jahans still around at the end of the 1970's
or 80's. The Jahans' red-brick residence was on
Cantonment Road at the side of the Lucknow
Publishing House and old-man Jahans stayed
there. I guess Constance was his mother and hope
I come across his grave sometime.
Below are four Jahans out of a number listed on
Fibis.org
1. Alfred EU Jahans, Lucknow from
the La Martiniere College register dated
1921
2. W. Jahans, Gusrd G.I.P Rly, Hardoi
La Martiniere College register (parent/guardian)
1921
 3. Allan Jahans, Lucknow, St Francis College
                                                                                             register, 1901
                                                             4.    Allan Jahans, Allahabad, St Joseph's College
register, 1928

ETERNAL REST GRANT UNTO
HER O LORD AND LET PERPETUAL
LIGHT SHINE UPON HER.
MAY HER SOUL REST IN PEACE

The news of Julie Cyrill's death brought
to an end the celebration for the New Year
at the Symonds home in Talkatora, Lucknow before it had begun. I, the blogger, happened to be there that night. Both these railway families had been close for many years living within easy reach of each other.
Julie married Leslie Cyrill after her first
husband, Mr Lawless.

TO PART WITH ONE WE LOVE SO DEAR,

A SOURCE OF SYMPATHY TO ALL IN NEED,
SINCERE AND TRUE IN HEART AND MIND,
A BEAUTIFUL MEMORY YOU LEAVE BEHIND.
                                      Your Loving Children

I visited Ronald Beecham when I first noticed a new
member had joined the Crosthwaite Homes family
and came to know who he was. He passed away
not long after, maybe a few months later. His two sons, Clarence
and Neville I'd seen when they studied in
La Martiniere College. I next saw Clarence when he married
Charmaine, the elder daughter of Peter Fanthome.
